How We Help
The purpose of our organization is to give parents and caregivers of children with disabilities, or special needs, easy access to quality, useful and relevant information, along with training and resources so as to advance their children’s developmental and educational outcomes.
PIC offers:
Individual Consultations
Our trained and experienced staff provide one-on-one consultation to parents, caregivers and professionals by phone, e-mail, or in person.
PIC offers workshops on a wide range of topics to help parents and educators better understand special education and related programs and services.
Leadership Training
PIC hosts an annual Family Leadership Academy that gives parents and caregivers the know- how and skills to effectively navigate and improve local and state education systems for the benefit of their children. Look in the Events section of this website for the next Family Leadership Academy.
Audio Conferences and Webinars
Our audio conferences and webinars allow parents to listen to educators, medicaland other professionals, advocates and other parents who present on topics that are relevant and useful. Most of the audio conferences are archived.
Please search the event page of this site to find out about upcoming topics.
Toolkits
Toolkits provide in-depth information to help parents understand how to support their children on their educational journey. Parents must not only be familiar with all education policies and processes, they must also know how and what children learn. Our toolkits are designed to help parents help their children succeed.
Our online resource center links parents to valuable information to help them make educated choices and decisions for their children.
Library
PIC maintains a comprehensive library of over 600 books, videos and DVD's on topics relating to disability, education, rehabilitation and other issues important to families.
