Help a Child Learn to Read
Fall 2010 Reading Assist Trainings
You can help a struggling child learn to read!
Reading ASSIST® Institute’s mission is to improve the literacy skills of children at risk for reading failure. As part of this mission we train volunteers in a structured, multisensory reading intervention program. Volunteers then work in an elementary school on a team to provide this specific intervention to struggling readers. The students receiving the intervention are identified by the school staff. We would like to offer this opportunity for additional children but we need your help!
Reading ASSIST Institute (RAI) was incorporated as a non profit organization in 1989. In the 2007/2008 school year there were approximately 145 volunteer tutors working with 250 students. Volunteers must have a high school diploma, a desire to work with children, agree to a Criminal Background and Child Protection Registry Check, have a personal interview and complete training.
Training classes will be held in late September 2010 at both of our offices:
Milford Office
1002 Mattlind Way
Milford, DE 19963
Community Services Building
100 West 10th Street, Suite 910

The training and materials are provided free of charge with a commitment to volunteer for two semesters after completion of the training course.
